Requirements
- Master’s degree (minimum) in Chemistry (organic or inorganic)
- Studies or interests in botany
- Minimum 5 years of industrial or institutional research experience
Duties & Responsibilities
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
- Development & Implementation of R&D Plans,
- To study and learn about various construction systems and formulations,
- Determination of New Product Performance Criteria,
- Research/evaluation of raw material requirements
- Technical Consultants & Regulatory Bodies,
- Testing, Evaluation & Formulation,
- Acquisition of External Approvals *
- Writing of Specifications & Instructions (technical portions),
- Education & Support for New Products,
- Fulfilling, Assistance in Reporting requirements for gov't supported research grants.
- Establish, manage & direct our quality assurance program
PARTICIPATION WITH SENIOR & OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT IN THE DETERMINATION OF:
- Future Products,
- Product Enhancements,
- Long Term Research Strategic Planning,
- Establish, improve & maintain quality standards & controls
LABORATORY MANAGEMENT:
- Laboratory Facility Operations,
- Execution of Test Methods,
- Requisition of Equipment & Consumables.
OTHER ITEMS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participation with sales in technical efforts to customers (existing and potential) to determine performance requirements, understand & improve products and resolve concerns.
- This will, from time to time, include construction job sites, architectural and engineering firms.
- This may also include presentations or publication of technical information that Imasco wishes to share with various audiences.
- Prepare departmental and project budgets
- Lead role in obtaining government grants and other forms of funding assistance.
- The position is intended to be a mixture of management, formulation, hands on product development, innovation, strategic and analytical thinking.
- Maintain proper records of research including annual objectives, experimental plans, experimental results, weekly research reports, analyses of results, and recommendations for further research. These records are required both for SRED and corporate purposes.
- Prepare and make weekly presentations to management team with updates on research progress, research reports, status of projects, or other potential concerns.
- General duties:
- Ensure that the image and reputation of Imasco Minerals is maintained and enhanced to highest levels
- Know and follow safety procedures
- Report safety concerns to the OHS committee in a prompt manner
- Participate with the OHS Safety Committee
- Maintain all areas and equipment in proper functioning condition
- Ensure good housekeeping is maintained
- Liaise and communicate with appropriate personnel.
- Ask for assistance when required.
- Provide assistance when requested.
- Ideas, observations and suggestions should be communicated.
- Collect samples for Quality Assurance or other purposes, as needed.
This position requires collaboration and consultation with Professional Engineers for various aspects of the work described above.
The Chief Scientist must perform any other jobs that management asks, from time to time, in keeping with the skills and responsibilities of the position.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
