JOB TITLE: Coop Student, Ag Optimization & Technology Specialist

POSITION TYPE: Temporary – Full time

DURATION: 4 Months (May 9, 2019 - August 31, 2019)

LOCATION: Westlock, Alberta - 11140 - 100 Street, T7P 2C3

REPORTING TO: Manager, AOS

The Ag Optimization & Technology Specialist (AOS) Coop Student will be a member of a field team, and support the retail sales team for whole goods agriculture equipment. Further, they will engage in both electronic and hands on training to better understand the equipment, and assist in providing recommendations to our customers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • The student will assist in the optimization and business activities related to our core Ag products
  • Work closely with Field Support Teams, Service Managers, and Sales Managers and Sales staff to address and resolve the needs of customers
  • Assist with diagnoses and troubleshooting of technical issues including, but not limited to: displays, GPS/GLONASS, application control, telematics, precision harvesting systems, section control, mapping, and variable rate in cab technology and determine if field visits are required to resolve concerns through field validation / testing on outstanding product issues
  • Complete all levels of training through hands on and electronic means provided by RME and our vendors
  • Learn to understand proper machine settings for application conditions/crops, and liaise with our Ag Optimization Specialists to provide recommendations based on information gathered from the relevant machines
  • Employee must adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety standards as the company is committed to the protection and wellness of its employees
Job Requirements and Qualifications Include:
  • Currently enrolled in an Agronomy, Agribusiness, Agricultural Mechanization, Crop Technology or a relevant program
  • The successful candidate must be returning to school in September 2019
  • Previous exposure to the agriculture industry required
  • Technical and operational competency with agricultural equipment is considered an asset
  • A positive customer-oriented attitude, and possesses the ability to work with a wide range of personality types
  • Must be able to work flexible hours during seeding, spraying and harvest
  • Proficiency with MS office suite application
  • An ability to speak and present information in a group environment
  • An ability to work in a group environment with the customer needs at the forefront of all decisions
