Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the pharmacy. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about healthcare and patient service, with an interest in medication administration and medical terminology.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
- Provide excellent patient care by answering inquiries, providing information about medications, and addressing patient concerns.
- Deliver prescription medications to patients in a safe, timely, and professional manner when required.
- Maintain accurate records of medication inventory, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations, policies, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to support patient medication needs.
- Utilize medical terminology to assist in interpreting prescriptions and medication orders.
- Support the pharmacy team with administrative duties, including filing, data entry, and managing patient records.
Qualifications
- Previous Canadian experience as a Pharmacy Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, or in a pharmacy/hospital setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required (clean driving record preferred).
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
