DJ Airside Services
Location: Smithers Airport
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent
DJ Airside Services provides ground handling services for Air Canada Express at the Smithers Airport. We are currently seeking a motivated and customer-focused Customer Service Agent to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Using airline computerized and reservation systems
- Passenger check-in and boarding gate services
- Processing payments for excess baggage and other applicable fees
- Making general passenger announcements
- Liaising with internal and external partners (ramp, flight crew, dispatch, etc.)
- Providing customer service at departure gates and airport counters
- Assisting passengers to and from the aircraft as required
- Cargo processing
- Handling delayed and damaged baggage claims
- Conducting radio communications with aircraft and recording flight information
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
- General computer proficiency; experience with airline reservation systems is an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to learn independently
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups
- Ability and willingness to work varied shifts, including some evenings, weekends, and split shifts
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in high-stress situations
- Previous airline experience or post-secondary education in travel and tourism is considered an asset
Additional Requirements
- Criminal background check (to be obtained upon employment)
- Proficiency in English (required)
Compensation & Employment Details
- Training wage: $22.00 per hour (approximately 3–6 months)
- Post-training wage: $25.00 per hour upon successful completion of all training requirements
Additional compensation
- Limited standby travel passes anywhere within Air Canada’s route network (available after 3 months)
- Very flexible schedule
