Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to maintain and improve inventory accuracy across our warehouse operations. This role is responsible for ensuring inventory is stored in the correct locations, accurately recorded within the WMS/ERP system, and readily available for both B2B and D2C fulfillment activities.
The ideal candidate has strong warehouse inventory management experience, excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of warehouse slotting, racking systems, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and location control processes.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Accuracy & Control
- Maintain inventory accuracy at or above established company targets.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on inventory issues and implement corrective actions.
- Reconcile physical inventory with system inventory.
Location Management
- Ensure all products are stored in designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain accurate location records within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Manage location transfers, consolidations, and inventory movements.
- Optimize warehouse slotting and storage utilization.
- Monitor location capacity and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
Warehouse Operations Support
- Work closely with receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping teams.
- Audit inbound receipts and outbound shipments for accuracy.
- Ensure proper labeling, pallet identification, and location assignments.
- Support warehouse expansion, re-slotting, and racking projects.
Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain inventory control procedures and best practices.
- Identify process gaps affecting inventory accuracy.
- Assist with warehouse layout improvements and inventory flow optimization.
- Train warehouse staff on inventory handling and location control procedures.
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate inventory reports and accuracy metrics.
- Monitor KPIs including:
- Inventory Accuracy %
- Location Accuracy %
- Picking Accuracy %
- Cycle Count Completion %
- Inventory Adjustment Trends
- Provide recommendations to improve inventory performance.
Requirements:
Required
- 3+ years of inventory control experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management principles.
- Experience with warehouse racking systems, bin locations, slotting, and storage optimization.
- Experience conducting cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Strong proficiency with WMS, ERP, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify root causes and solve inventory-related problems.
Preferred
- Experience in both B2B and D2C fulfillment environments.
- Experience with third-party logistics (3PL) operations.
- Knowledge of barcode scanning systems and RF devices.
- Experience with inventory audits and process improvement initiatives.
- Forklift certification (asset).
