Senior Financial Analyst

As the management company for Ambulance New Brunswick and the Extra-Mural Program, we're looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to help support our growing operation which provides exemplary, highly coordinated primary health care in the right place, from the right provider, at the right time.

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting information for the Company. Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the incumbent's primary responsibility will be to maintain and audit all accounts and expenditures.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Salary, wage and benefit expense reporting and reconciliations;
Preparation of monthly financial analysis to meet monthly reporting deadlines;
Analyze and review process as required. Implement effective processes and guidelines where required;
Continuously review and enhance analytical reporting efforts;
Conduct reconciliations of various accounts;
Meet timelines to ensure monthly reporting requirements are conducted to include results in monthly income statement;
Identify deviations from prior pay periods with analysis and recommendations;
Develop and ensure ongoing budget is accurate and impacts are identified and flagged for review with actions;
Follow appropriate accounting practices and policies for the organization that are consistent with generally accepted accounting principles, Medavie accounting practices and which support informed financial decision making regarding the Company's financial resources;
Provide assistance in the evaluation of proposed business initiatives from a costing standpoint;
Ensure consistent defined practices and budgets are adhered to and followed;
Conduct focused audits and reasonable reviews of expenses and spending by regions along with comparative analysis;
Implement appropriate internal accounting controls to improve internal business processes and to ensure the adequate protection of the Company's assets;
Investigate variances and follow up items to ensure current financial results are reflective of current state;
Preparation of the reconciliation of all significant payroll accounts and employee receivable amounts to the general ledger;
Conduct financial analysis as required on a monthly and ad-hoc basis;
Liaises with accounting personnel. Respond to enquiries from Medavie Health Services staff with respect to inter-company transactions and ensure proper recording;
Prepare audit file including all supporting schedules and variance analysis as required by auditors;
Liaise with payroll personnel as assigned to ensure the accurate posting of all payroll accounts;
Preparation of monthly financial statements, yearend statements and various reporting packages for management staff on a monthly and quarterly basis;
Financial projects as assigned.
As the ideal candidate for this role, you:
possess a post-secondary education in business with a concentration in accounting;
minimum 3-5 years experience working in an accounting department dealing with financial reporting and accounting is required;
have experience with all aspects of financial statement preparation;
must have strong technical abilities, be proficient in spreadsheet preparation and be comfortable in a computerized accounting environment;
are a detail oriented and self-motivated individual with strong organizational abilities and;
use a positive and creative approach to problem solving;
possess good communication skills.
A Chartered Professional Accounting designation would be considered an asset.
