The Opportunity
The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing multiple facilities within Canada. The successful candidate will work closely within the site to ensure all aspects of the operation are run efficiently.
Responsibilities
  • Oversight of Company facility, including all aspects of operations
  • Reporting in to Company's executive team, the successful candidate will ensure that operations are consistent with Company’s Human Resources, IT, and general operational structure
  • Reporting in to Company’s leadership team, the successful candidate will ensure that the facility operates to the exact standards developed by Company, adapted with permission as necessary for the Canadian market
  • Our world is ever changing, and the General Manager will need to lead and champion change management activities (i.e., frequent communication to staff and stakeholders about the change and the impact of the change)
  • Manage Assistant General Managers
  • Manage priorities of projects and requests
  • Manage ongoing operating performance against plans and budgets
  • Ensure that all provincial regulations and corporate regulations and policies are being met with support of Canopy's Company’s Regulatory Team and guidance from the Quality Control team
  • Define operational practices and ensure they are compliant with regulatory framework
  • Lead production meetings and provide coordination to resolve issues
  • Ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental standards are up to Provincial Code/Legislation
  • Develop and implement projects to increase efficiency, yield, productivity and capacity across all processes in a manner that remains consistent with the precise intellectual property and process of the company
  • Manage contractors and service providers
  • Along with the Quality Officer, ensure full compliance with provincial regulations
  • Along with Finance, ensure full compliance with company financial guidelines
  • Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire and train new employees in coordination with Human Resources
  • Manage and facilitate site projects
  • Ensure that company best practices, standard work methods and Lean methodology are used across the site
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Travel to Head Office in Smiths Falls, ON as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or Business is an asset
  • Extensive manufacturing experience
  • 5-10 years experience managing teams to achieve production and quality
  • Lean Green Belt Certification and or use of Lean and Continuous Improvement concepts.
  • Quality assurance background considered an asset
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Proven leadership and people management experience in a distribution or a process driven environment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong organization & communication skills
  • Hard working and rigorous mindset
