COUNTER/PARTS SALESPERSON
The primary responsibility of the counter/parts salesperson is to service customers. He/she should be knowledgeable about parts and able to use the parts catalogues. He/she should be capable of dealing intelligently with customers both in person and on the phone.
DEFINITION
To assist in the purchasing of a variety of parts for Material Handling Equipment, maintain parts room, coordinate and control inventory program, pickup and deliver parts upon request and see that all parts are charged to the proper accounts using a computerized system
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Sell parts over the counter to wholesale and retail customers.
- Handle telephone parts orders for wholesale and/or retail accounts.
- Promote additional parts sales by suggesting related items, seasonal lines, and/or parts specialists.
- Clean, revise, and update parts displays as directed.
- Inform customers when special orders are received.
- Determine correct parts numbers and "pick" parts for orders received.
- Arrange for delivery or shipment of parts as required.
- Prepare and cost parts invoices, properly identifying eligible wholesale customers.
- Help maintain orderly parts stock.
- Assist with regular parts inventories and the selection of parts for return under the parts obsolescence program.
- Recommend layout improvements to the parts manager and assist in physical re-arrangement of layout.
- Attend group training sessions as required.
- Locate and maintain sources for equipment parts.
- Assist in the equipment parts purchasing program for the Service Department and Rental Division.
- Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Store and issue a variety of equipment parts; process requests for parts room items via computer.
- Prepare reorder requests
- Review and ensure that written specifications for supplies, materials, and equipment conform to good and accepted purchasing practices and to industry standards.
Prepare informal bids and evaluate bids and parts/equipment purchases. Assist in the preparation and evaluation of formal bids.
- Receive, count, and inspect equipment materials to ensure accurate quantity and quality.
- Make periodic inventory counts of parts room items to ensure proper identification and re-supply needs.
- Maintain the equipment parts room in a clean and orderly fashion and in accordance with standard accepted warehouse procedures.
- Maintain records, memos, letters, and related documentation on hazardous materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
PARTS COUNTER SALESPERSON
Customer satisfaction and sales is the top responsibilities of the parts counter salesperson. He/she provides merchandise, supplies or information for all customers, both external and internal, while aiding in the achievement of department and dealership goals and objectives.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$26.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
