We are looking for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist and are seeking the right candidate to work in our St.Laurent, Quebec or Mississauga, Ontario office.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to manage the payroll and benefits functions for all employees across Canada. We need a self-starter able to work in a team environment with strong problem solving skills.
Process bi-weekly payroll timesheets.
Complete, verify and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits such as pension plans, leaves, employment and medical insurance.
Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments.
Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Prepare and process monthly report, including:
Payroll month-end reports including monthly end journals
Worker’s Compensation monthly remittance
Maintain payroll records in Ceridian Dayforce and participate in process improvement projects.
Prepare and maintain Expatriate payroll and benefits.
Maintain awareness of current payroll legislation and coordinates system parameter changes.
Ensures the processing and completion of all payroll data is compliant with the CBAs, provinces legislation, and different requirements.
Set up enrollments, process terminations and coordinate changes with the benefits provider.
Process Worker’s Compensation forms and claims.
Administer the Group Benefit Plan and Group Retirement Plan.
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all payroll remittances and reports.
Prepare reports for the annual external audit of payroll as needed.
Respond to employees’ payroll inquiries as well as Government agencies.
Process Year End reporting, including T-4’s, Releve 1’s, Vacation Accrual, Pension. Adjustments, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Experience/ Educational Requirements
University Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll administration for both salaried and hourly employees.
Experience with Ceridian DayForce HCM is required.
Experience in multiple provincial payroll is preferred.
Experience with all Government Remittances, ROE, T4 and RL-1.
Basic accounting skills/background is an asset.
Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Normes de travail, CRA regulations.
Bilingualism – French & English is a strong asset.
Active member with the Canadian Payroll Association and holds a PCP or CPM designation.
Experience in a multi-branch environment, multi-union environment with several Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Applications.
Self-starter eager to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong sense of urgency.
Strong attention to detail, able to accurately complete reports.
Ability to learn and retain information and follow processes.
Able to work independently and meet the set goals.
Good people skills able to get along well with colleagues.
