Yellow Brick Games is looking for a Technical Designer to bridge the gap between our Level Design and Tech teams. In this role, you will be responsible for improving the efficiency of our design team in their day-to-day work. Bridge the Gap: Act as the primary liaison between the Level Design and Tech teams. Translate creative requirements into technical realities and ensure designers have the tools they need.
Tool & Templates Creation: Develop, maintain, and document reusable blueprints and templates for the wider design team to use.
Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the level design pipeline and propose technical solutions to improve team efficiency.
Peer Support: Provide technical guidance and support to members of the Level Design team.
Debugging & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve complex, level-specific bugs related to collision, streaming and scripting.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in game development as a Technical Designer, Level Designer, or similar role.
Shipped Titles: Credited on at least one shipped AA or AAA title in a technical or design capacity.
Engine Mastery: Strong, hands-on proficiency with Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5).
Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical constraints to non-technical team members.
Problem Solving: A proactive, analytical mindset with a strong drive to find elegant solutions to messy problems.
Experience with procedural generation tools.
An eye for optimization, with a foundational understanding of how to maintain framerate and streaming performance without compromising the player experience.
Bonus points for a foundational understanding of C++ to supplement your visual scripting.
