Definite Term Lecturer - Data Analytics

Job Description

The School of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Arts at
the University of Waterloo invites applications for one lecturer position in Data
Analytics beginning September 1 st , 2022. The successful candidate
will focus on Data Analytics instruction and its applications in the business
world, particularly in Accounting and Finance, and will be hired at the rank of
Lecturer for a two-year definite-term contract, renewable in accordance with
university policy. The teaching load is normally 60% of one’s tasks (6 courses
a year), with service activities in support of the School, the Faculty, the
University, and/or the profession amounting to the other 40%.

Successful candidates must have a university degree in a field
related to Data Analytics or a business- related degree, along with significant
work experience applying data analytics in accounting, tax, or finance
contexts. In particular, they should possess experience with databases and SQL,
data visualization using Tableau or Power BI, coding in R or Python, and
predictive analytics in accounting, tax, or finance contexts. The successful
candidate will have demonstrated strong potential for teaching in a
post-secondary setting in Canada. A high potential for academic leadership is
expected of the successful applicant. The capacity to apply data analytics
techniques in a multi-subject environment is considered an asset. While not
required, a professional designation in accounting or finance and work
experience in one of these fields would also be an asset. Candidates who can
demonstrate Thought Leadership and are interested in engaging in executive
education or pedagogical innovation will be considered positively.

Based on qualifications, a
starting compensation in the salary range of $100,000 to $125,000 will be
considered.
