Pediatric Echocardiographer
BC Children’s Hospital, $32.64 to 40.69 per hour
What you’ll do
Perform, produce, and provide preliminary reports on pediatric echocardiograms at BC Children’s Hospital, BC Women’s Hospital and/or at Cardiology Partnership Clinics; recognizes situations where further investigation or testing may be required.
Enter relevant numerical data and technical comments into digital archiving system for further interpretation and reporting by a pediatric cardiologist (ie. determine and record anatomical and physiological findings and measures, calculate and record numerical data from the various modalities used to produce the pediatric echocardiogram).
Provide instruction, teaching and training in pediatric echocardiography to staff, students and physicians. Give in-service presentations and acts as a resource person on pediatric echocardiography.
Assist cardiologist with echocardiography guided procedures such as intra-operative and transesophageal echocardiograms and septostomies, and conduct tests related to research protocols in various areas of the hospital (ie. Special Care Nursery, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Room, Catheterization Lab).
Check echocardiography equipment for optimal functioning, clean equipment and replenish supplies; report equipment problems to the Echocardiography Supervisor or designate.
What you bring
Graduation from a recognized ultrasound program with adult echocardiography.
Current adult and pediatric echocardiography registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
Recent pediatric echocardiography experience preferred.
Current qualifications in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
You will have the ability to:

Operate related equipment including windows-based software packages such as word processing and the internet for clinical information.
Demonstrate interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and patients.
Deal with others effectively and function as an active member of a multidisciplinary team.
Organize workload and set priorities.
Teach and provide instructions.
Work with children and families.
Travel to Cardiology Partnership Clinics as required.
Physically perform the duties of the position.
