As a Communications Manager, you will be challenged to:
- Manage a communications team, including human resources, responsible for the development and implementation of departmental strategic communications plans and activities.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance on all aspects of communications, frequently involving sensitive subject matter, to the Minister’s Office, senior and middle management and employees.
- Passionately and proactively, tell stories through a variety of mediums about the successes, projects and results achieved by CanNor, so that all Canadians have a better understanding of CanNor’s impact.
- Oversee, plan and deliver reactive and proactive media strategies, including the development of media lines, key messages, questions and answers and the development and organization of special events and media opportunities.
Established in August 2009, Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) is the only federal department with an exclusive mandate for the North. CanNor's vision is to develop a strong, diversified, sustainable and dynamic economy for Northerners and Indigenous people, communities and businesses across Canada's three Territories. As one of the smallest of the Government of Canada’s regional development agencies (less than 120 staff in total), CanNor provides a unique opportunity for individuals looking to be part of a small but mighty organization that leverages its nimbleness to tackle some serious, high-profile socio-economic issues.
Please note: We have an immediate need to staff one indeterminate position.
Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement who are found qualified in this staffing process will be appointed ahead of other qualified applicants.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.
