The Sr. Manager, Strategic Sourcing is a lead role within the Strategic Sourcing Organization, responsible in leading the strategic planning/sourcing process for a portfolio of indirect spend categories and Private Label COGS by defining and executing strategic sourcing goals, developing and identifying the approach and initiatives to support Walmart Canada’s strategies and reduce total cost of ownership from a subset functional areas, which may include Loss Prevention, Marketing, ISD, Supply Chain, Shared Services, FES (Fixtures, Equipment & Supplies), Operations, E-Commerce, Construction, Facilities Maintenance and Architecture. This individual is responsible for directly managing a spend portfolio of $100M+ annually.
Engage and build relationships & demonstrate persuasive leadership skills to influencing senior business executives and departments to follow Walmart Canada sourcing policies. The individual needs to promote a culture of compliance and governance of Canadian Sourcing Policy.
Create two to three-year strategic sourcing portfolio strategy using category strategy approach, identifying risk and opportunities across the organization, driving the development of individual and team initiatives to achieve strategy; helping internal Client teams implement strategies; reviewing business intelligence analysis; conducting financial analyses (for example, total cost of ownership analysis (TCO), clean sheet, SWOT analysis, analyzing comparative data); guiding efficient resource allocation; and monitoring and revising plans throughout the procurement life-cycle, including short-term and long-term objectives. Regularly monitor workflow activity and build pipeline of additional and new initiatives. Engage with International markets to drive alignment to category strategies and identify multi-market leverage opportunities.
Drive the development of strategic category reviews in various indirect spend portfolios (approx. $400M and Private Label spend (approx.$500M) with Executive Team and key Stakeholders. Leads cross functional projects and integrates various stakeholders and business units across the organization to leverage synergies. Must contribute and drive the development and growth of the Strategic Sourcing policies within WMC. Advance distinct RFQ process in each department and by each initiative.

Continuously assess and monitor talent development, by providing challenging learning opportunities to foster professional growth. Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain highly skilled and engaged associates by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
Implement the corporate Strategic Sourcing and Category Management process using BuyIt Sourcing tool: Project Identification, Baselines/Financial Target, Demand Management, Sourcing Strategy, RFx Process, e-Auction Process, Quantitative / Qualitative Analysis, Total-Cost-of-Ownership Analysis, Negotiation, and Contract Support. Develop and maintain a process by which vendors are evaluated and selected in accordance with established guidelines and best practices (RFI/RFP, Cross Functional Evaluation Team, Scorecards, and Performance Metrics). Manage the sourcing gating process for alignment with key stakeholders.
Able to understand and leverage industry trends, new developments, and best practices in order to facilitate the best-in-class strategic sourcing process and optimize value and service levels for Walmart Canada.
Develop and maintain relationships with external strategic vendor partners, to realize Walmart’s overall objectives and commitment to growth. Conduct strategic supplier relationship management (SRM), risk analysis and compliance management programs with regards to indirect category. Create, negotiate, and implement Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Statement of Work (SOW) and Vendor Agreements (VA) within the contract. Review contracts and provide advisory support to the business unit to ensure business risks are minimized and all required SLA’s are implemented. Participate in strategic business reviews as part of the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process. Support identification of new savings and sourcing pipeline opportunities through the SRM process.
Manage, control, and conduct performance tracking methods of strategic sourcing initiatives measuring effectiveness against KPIs and compliance while providing regular cadence of reporting to internal stakeholders.
Driving process improvement initiatives to achieve high standard of integrity and accuracy related to the Strategic Sourcing process. Monitor and control adherence and compliance to Corporate procurement policies for all functional areas to minimize risk and identify opportunities. Standardize and implement new processes which improve total cost of ownership ultimately realizing corporate strategic objectives.
Qualifications:
10+ years of professional strategic sourcing experience leading multi-category sourcing teams for direct and/or indirect spend.
Track record of leading the continuous improvement of sourcing and category management programs
Expertise in negotiations and contracting including e-sourcing, should-cost models, leveraged agreements, multi-year contracts, complex terms and conditions, performance incentives, and management of corporate risk
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional project teams; ability to influence others through both direct and indirect networks; a consensus builder and a change agent.
Strong orientation to team leadership, coaching, collaboration, and positive communication
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
