SPDG Inc is a Boutique Interior Design Firm specializing in Residential, Commercial & Institutional projects. With over 20 years of market experience, we handle a wide range of projects, including family homes, luxury residences, condominium buildings, and corporate offices. Our office is located in the Vaughan/Concord, Ontario. We are seeking an enthusiastic full- time individual with a design background who will be the front line person in the company. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is highly organized, efficient and is able to multitask in a fast- paced environment.
About the Opportunity:
As a Junior Interior Designer/Design Assistant, you will be at the forefront of our operations, providing crucial support to our design team. Your roles & responsibilities will include the following:
- Supporting Senior Designers: Assisting senior designers in various aspects of project management and design implementation.
- Research and Inspiration: Conducting research on design trends, materials, and furnishings to provide inspiration and support for design projects.
- Drafting, Visualization and Documentation: Assisting in the creation of design drawings, floorplans, elevations, and other documentation using software such as AutoCAD or SketchUp.
- Material Selection, Specification and Product Sourcing: Researching and sourcing materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and accessories for design projects, while considering budget and client preferences.
- Sample Coordination: Organizing and maintaining sample libraries of materials, fabrics, finishes, and other design elements for reference and presentation purposes.
- Project Coordination: Assisting with project coordination and management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and coordination with vendors and contractors.
- Client Communication: Communicating with clients, vendors, and contractors to gather information, schedule meetings, and coordinate deliveries and installations.
- Vendor and Contractor Coordination: Assisting with the coordination of vendors, contractors, and other tradespeople involved in design projects, including obtaining quotes and managing schedules.
- Site Visits and Inspections: Accompanying senior designers on site visits to assess progress, address any issues, and ensure that design plans are being implemented correctly.
- Assisting with Presentations: Helping prepare presentation materials such as mood boards, renderings, and presentations for client meetings.
- Administrative Support: Providing administrative support such as scheduling appointments, organizing files, and maintaining project documentation.
- Maintaining Design Studio: Keeping the design studio organized and tidy, including managing inventory of supplies and materials.
- Continuing Education: Actively seeking opportunities for professional development and continuing education to expand knowledge and skills in the field of interior design.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborating with other members of the design team, including architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors, to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Problem Solving: Assisting in identifying and resolving design-related problems and challenges that may arise during the course of a project.
- Social Media Management: Efficiently managing and monitoring social media platforms to promote projects, engage with clients, and stay updated on industry trends.
The Successful Candidate will have the following requirements satisfied:
We are seeking a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- Design knowledge and an understanding of design concepts.
- At least 2-3 years of experience providing administrative and project coordination support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite & Google Suite and exceptional organizational skills.
- Superior interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail in all work performed.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit or Sketchup, or any other design related software is considered an advantage.
- Marketing skills are considered an asset.
- Efficient with Social Media and capable of monitoring social media platforms (Ex. Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn etc.)
