- Drive and maneuver: Operate the rock truck to transport materials such as ore, rock, or waste from the mining site to processing areas or disposal locations.
- Load and unload: Efficiently load materials onto the truck and ensure proper unloading at designated sites, often using the truck's dump bed.
- Pre-operation checks: Conduct daily inspections of the truck to ensure it is in safe working condition. This includes checking fluid levels, brakes, tires, and lights.
- Routine maintenance: Perform minor maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts as required. Report any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
- Follow protocols: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe driving practices.
- Hazard awareness: Be vigilant for potential hazards on the mine site, such as uneven terrain, other equipment, and personnel.
- Load management: Ensure loads are properly balanced and secure to avoid spillage and maintain vehicle stability.
- Coordination: Work closely with other equipment operators and personnel to ensure smooth and efficient material handling.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of load quantities, delivery times, and any issues encountered during operations. This information may be used for reporting and operational planning.
- Coordination with team: Communicate effectively with site supervisors, loaders, and other truck operators to coordinate activities and ensure efficient workflow.
- Reporting: Report any safety incidents, equipment malfunctions, or other concerns to supervisors promptly.
- Dust and pollution control: Follow procedures to minimize dust and environmental impact, including using dust control systems if available.
- Emergency procedures: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including vehicle breakdowns or safety incidents, and follow established emergency protocols.
