Current Opportunity: We're Hiring a Fundraising, Grants & Communications Manager to work with the SDC managerial team, which oversees professional and technical Environmental, Cultural Heritage, Forestry, Residential and Civil Construction, Quilakwa Gas Station and Store, and Quilakwa RV Park staff. This position is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and managing grant and fundraising opportunities on behalf of SDC and its business units, while also overseeing all aspects of Marketing and Communications. The role combines revenue-generating grant and fundraising work with the branding, promotion, and communications work needed to support it. Reporting to the CEO, this position has no direct staff reports.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies and campaigns, including donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Maintain a grants and fundraising calendar and tracking system and report on funding status to the CEO and managerial team.
- Strategic planning and consulting on marketing and communications initiatives.
- Working with leadership to identify new opportunities for grants and fundraising.
Grants & Fundraising Execution
- Research, identify, and track grant, funding, and sponsorship opportunities relevant to SDC and its business units (Environmental, Cultural Heritage, Forestry, Residential and Civil Construction, Quilakwa Gas Station and Store, and Quilakwa RV Park).
- Write, prepare, and submit grant applications and funding proposals, including budgets, narratives, and supporting materials.
- Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables; prepare funder reports and ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with funding bodies, government agencies, foundations, and other potential funding partners.
Marketing & Communications Execution
- Website development, maintenance, updating, and Search Engine Optimization for existing and new SDC and QUIL sites.
- Newsletter development and distribution.
- Manage social media post design and copywriting.
- Responsible for branding, design, and copywriting services for advertising, funding proposals, and trade show materials, ensuring marketing material follows the same theme companywide.
- Brochure design and marketing for Net Zero homes and other current or future SDC businesses.
- Development of new initiatives such as brochure design and pay-per-click campaigns.
- Responsible for Public Relations initiatives, including media release development, connecting with media, and interview coordination. Video script writing, imagery shot list development, and coordination of photoshoots.
- Branding and delivering recruitment campaigns.
Event & Stakeholder Coordination
- Event planning and coordination, including fundraising events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience working with a First Nations organization.
- Previous experience writing successful grant applications and/or fundraising proposals.
- Previous experience managing and implementing projects.
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative and coordination experience.
- Knowledge of the grant, funding, and non-profit/economic development funding landscape considered an asset.
- Advanced ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, and manage time, including tracking multiple funding deadlines.
- Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong desire to advance one's career and skill set.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grant writing and persuasive proposal writing.
