Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting internal and external audits. Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and month-end/year-end adjusting entries.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, reconciliations, and depreciation.
- Maintain lease schedules and record monthly lease-related entries.
- Prepare depreciation, prepaid, accrual, and other recurring month-end entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support in the preparation of biweekly payroll
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
- Coordinate and support external audits, HST/GST audits, and regulatory reviews.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and tax requirements.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and financial analyses for management.
- Support the Controller with day-to-day accounting and finance activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting function.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills for reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
- Proven experience in accounting within the financial services industry or similar sectors.
- Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis).
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, fixed assets, and lease accounting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
- Experience with auditing processes and internal audits is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Excellent risk management capabilities with a focus on operational integrity.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines. This role is integral to maintaining the integrity of our financial operations while supporting strategic decision-making through accurate analysis and reporting.
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
