About the Faculty of Social Sciences
The FSS comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in both English and French. With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa. Its graduate students are supervised by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty's masters and Ph.D. programs. Position purpose:
Under the supervision of the Co-Principal Investigator the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the project’s leadership team in the ongoing management, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of The SafeCare® project.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Project Implementation, Management, and Oversight: The incumbent will act as a first point of contact between external parties and the research partners. They will be responsible for organizing and overseeing the project’s data collection process including, not be limited to; tracking and verifying purchases expenditures, conducting screening calls, scheduling data collection visits, managing the safe storage of data, and participating in follow-up activities.
Data Analysis, Collection and Interpretation: Responsible for preparation, manipulation, execution, and management multi-modal databases. The incumbent will oversee data entry and record keeping processes by collaborating with external parties and assisting in the analysis and dissemination of data.
Writing and submitting research results for publication and presentation: The incumbent will conduct literature reviews, interpret data, edit manuscripts, and summarize the project design and findings. They will also assist with the drafting and submission of papers, grant proposals, and applications.
Organize and / or participate in dissemination activities: Helps organize, and participates in, the preparation of dissemination events for academic and laymen audiences including conferences, seminars, and workshops.
What you will bring:
A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline (psychology, social work, etc.).
A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role (research, data management, etc.).
Ability to work independently, adapt rapidly to change, and to demonstrate flexibility and initiative.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to translate complex academic material to a layman audience
Ability to organize and coordinate workflow with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Sound judgement in applying scientific principles and predicting/preventing problems.
Strong computer skills and experience using qualitative and quantitative analysis software.
Advanced reading and writing skills in English and/or French. Preference will be given to bilingual candidates.
