General Accountabilities:
Provide innovation and thought leadership on new Asset Liability Management (ALM) approaches
Identify opportunities to standardize ALM philosophy, principles and methodologies across regions
Align and consolidate ALM metrics, measurement and reporting across regions
Develop common modeling methodology and tools
Support the regional ALM teams on global ALM initiatives

On-Going Responsibilities:
Oversee review of measurements/modeling standards and global-level modeling

Manage team to identify improvement opportunities and appropriate adjustments, understanding investment implications of current positions and optimization opportunities
Support global-level modeling and review of assumptions/inputs
Specific models include Economic Scenario Generator (ESG) and Global ADP
Support global actuarial group in developing global liability mgmt./cash-flow matching framework

Ensure global ALM metrics, current approaches, and other relevant data/analyses are provided to Global Actuarial

Provide additional resources to examine improvement/streamlining opportunities across regional approaches
Help deploy standardized framework to regional teams

Manage the development and production of global ALM dashboard report

Ensure report is developed accurately and on-time
Review need for additional metrics in global report, adapting to requests from the Board, senior leadership, and regulators

Oversee management of ALM risks and “second-line-of-defense”

Lead experience-sharing sessions between regions

Work with analysts to develop session agenda and materials
Facilitate discussion with regional contacts

Ensure ALM-related inquiries from OSFI are addressed

Mobilize global team to address specific requests in timely and accurate fashion

Support regional ALM teams with local processes

E.g., ALM policy review, new products, etc.

Serve as primary contact to the global actuarial group

Ensure ALM methods and perspectives are incorporated in standards
Share relevant insights with regional ALM teams

Qualifications and Competencies:
8+ years of experience
Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries
Deep knowledge of actuarial methods, tools, and models used for managing market, credit and insurance risks
Working knowledge and experience in risk management and ALM
Familiarity with Investments and Capital Markets
Strong analytical skills; Familiarity with current analytic models and their use in asset-liability management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and lead
Demonstrated credibility and professionalism in effectively articulating technically complex issues in a concise manner
