Bayer Crop Science is a world leader providing growers with innovative products and solutions for agriculture and environmental health. We are seeking highly motivated Field Breeding Associates to join our successful team for the Summer of 2019.

From your first day as a Summer Student you will be a contributing member of the team with meaningful responsibilities. Our goal is to provide interesting and challenging work while at the same time have fun and celebrate successes.

The terms of these positions vary based on environmental conditions and availability of candidates. However, the terms will typically start in April/May and end between August/September. We offer an orientation program, on the job training, a competitive compensation package, and this role provides you with opportunity to expand your knowledge.

Location(s): There are several positions available in multiple locations. We have positions in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

As a Breeding Associate, you will join our Breeding team where you will be involved in field trials for local and global breeding programs. You must be willing to work outdoors, be willing to work flexible hours when required and demonstrate some mechanical ability. Specifically, you will be responsible for field activities relating to seeding to harvest including seed set up, land preparation, seeding, pest control, plot maintenance, harvesting and supervision of casual employees as required. You will also be involved in crop health diagnosis through daily monitoring of field and research plots, data collection and analysis.

Currently enrolled in an Agriculture or Science related field of study. Associate’s (Diploma), Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree program and you must be returning to school upon completion of the summer internship - to either continue program of study or begin an advanced degree in the fall.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong motivational, organization and time management skills with ability to work independently
Attention to detail with results-orientation and demonstrated problem-solving skills
Ability to work long hours as required
