OVERVIEW
The Nursing Attendant is responsible for assisting the PCU/Ambulatory surgical service team in providing patient centered care. The Nursing Attendant duties include transporting patients for diagnostic tests and to other various units including the in-patient units, stocking supplies, changing linens, lifting/positioning patients, cleaning of equipment, and assisting with various patient care related duties: focus on safe work practices, high quality work and excellent customer service.
EDUCATION
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Obtains and maintains BLS.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current BCLS Certification.
- Recent PCU experience preferred.
- Must be able to perform heavy lifting, push 50kgs (110lbs) weight, and extensive walking.
- Ability to communicate verbally to patients, relatives, visitors, and other staff.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- A related or similar work experience will be an asset.
- Must be prepared to work in other areas within surgery i.e. Operating Room.
- Must be able to take on-call.
- Good work and attendance record required.
