Location: This position will be in-office, based in our Winnipeg office.

The opportunity:
Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Cost Analyst will be responsible for seeking cost efficiencies throughout the organization.
The Cost Analyst will use their analytical skills to review vendor charges and provide recommendations for cost savings initiatives. The incumbent will play a critical role in the firm’s goal achieving profitability improvements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing data and reconciling invoices.
- Analyzing invoice data to ensure accuracy and correct cost allocation.
- Recommending process improvements to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
- Investigating cost discrepancies and locating potential cost reductions.
- Maintaining accurate and complete invoicing records and documentation.
- Reporting cost analyses to stakeholders.
- Recommending cost savings initiatives to management.
- Preparing financial reports for stakeholders that capture relevant insights, potential cost savings, areas of improvements.
- Building, managing, and assessing vendor relationships.
- Building strong client relationships by being the main point of contact for 3rd party vendors.
- Working closely with vendors to successfully to ensure timely processing of invoices.
- Being able to effectively communicate clear expectations with vendors.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor's and/or associate degree in accounting, finance, business, engineering, economics, education, business/administration, mathematics, statistics, or management; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-3 years’ administrative financial services industry experience.
- Thomson1 experience considered an asset.
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite, including Word, Advanced Excel (VBA, Queries, SQL), PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- An ability to demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals.
- Strong analytical skills (statistical analysis, data analysis) to evaluate financial data and make recommendations.
- A high attention to detail, ability to organize significant amounts of data and nuances while maintaining accurate and comprehensive reporting.
- Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually).
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills (time management).
- A high tolerance for ambiguity; highly adaptive and able to manage a large volume of competing priorities.
- Strong critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
