About The Position
The Working Site Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role responsible for actively working on residential construction projects while coordinating day-to-day site activities, supporting crews and subcontractors, maintaining safe work practices, and helping keep projects on schedule and built to Vision Contracting’s quality standards.
This position is ideal for an experienced carpenter or residential construction lead who is comfortable taking ownership on site, performing general and finishing carpentry tasks, reading drawings, solving practical field issues, and leading by example while still being directly involved in the work.
Key Responsibilities
· Work hands-on with the crew while supervising daily residential construction site activities.
· Perform general carpentry, finishing carpentry, layout, measuring, cutting, shaping, assembly, and other construction tasks as required.
· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications, and engineered plans to understand project requirements.
· Plan, coordinate, and schedule daily work with employees, subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and the Project Manager.
· Lead by example on workmanship, productivity, safety, communication, housekeeping, and respect for clients and other trades.
· Support apprentices, labourers, and crew members with hands-on training, direction, and task clarification.
· Monitor construction progress, quality, materials, tools, equipment, and site conditions to help keep work moving efficiently.
· Ensure construction work follows approved plans, Ontario Building Code requirements, permit requirements, and applicable residential building standards.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready jobsite to help prevent slips, trips, falls, shortages, waste, and downtime.
· Enforce and follow safe work practices under OHSA, including proper PPE, Working at Heights requirements, WHMIS/SDS procedures, and company safety policies.
· Report hazards, incidents, injuries, illnesses, equipment concerns, tool damage, material shortages, and site issues promptly to the appropriate company representative.
· Communicate respectfully with the crew, clients, subcontractors, inspectors, management, and project stakeholders.
· Help resolve day-to-day site issues and escalate concerns to the Project Manager or management when needed.
· Complete timesheets, site forms, reports, and company documents accurately and on time.
· Operate company tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and ensure loads are properly secured when transporting or moving materials.
· Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
· Minimum 5 years of hands-on residential construction experience.
· At least 2 years of supervisory, lead hand, or site leadership experience preferred.
· Strong carpentry background, including general and/or finishing carpentry.
· Strong understanding of residential construction methods, Ontario Building Code requirements, OHSA, local bylaws, and construction best practices.
· Ability to read technical documents, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and sketches.
· Comfortable working at heights, climbing and moving ladders, lifting and carrying materials, and working indoors and outdoors as required.
· Proficient with manual and powered tools, measurement tools, and jobsite equipment.
· Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
· First Aid, WHMIS, and Working at Heights certifications are preferred but training can be provided.
· Experience with BuilderTrend and SiteDocs is an asset.

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
Experience:
- hands-on residential construction: 5 years (preferred)
- supervisory, lead hand, or site leadership: 2 years (preferred)
