COMMUNITY SAFETY & SECURITY GUARD

Tacit Security Inc. is currently seeking professional, dependable, and community-minded Security Guards to join our team at a high-profile social services facility in Winnipeg. This position requires individuals who can maintain a safe and secure environment while interacting respectfully and professionally with vulnerable populations, including those experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, addictions, and personal crisis. Successful candidates must possess strong communication skills, sound judgment, confidence under pressure, and a commitment to conflict resolution and de-escalation.
AVAILABLE POSITIONS
Part-Time (16 Hours Per Week)
Saturdays & Sundays
Midnight - 8am
8am - 4pm
4pm – Midnight
Full-Time (40 Hours Per Week)
Mondays – Fridays
Midnight - 8am
8am - 4pm
4pm – Midnight
COMPENSATION
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, training, and demonstrated ability. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain the safety and security of staff, visitors, residents, and property. Conduct regular patrols of the facility, grounds, and surrounding areas. Observe, document, and report suspicious, unsafe, or prohibited activities. Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts and disruptive behaviour. Assist in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all facility users. Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and security incidents in accordance with site procedures. Prepare accurate shift reports, incident reports, and activity logs. Provide safe-walk escorts within designated property boundaries. Work collaboratively with site staff, emergency services, and community partners. Enforce site policies and access-control procedures professionally and consistently. Assist with the removal of unauthorized individuals when required and authorized under company policy and applicable legislation.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two (2) years of security, corrections, law enforcement, military, healthcare security, or related experience.
- Valid Manitoba Security Guard Licence.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Intermediate computer proficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is considered a strong asset.
- Crisis intervention, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI), or Mental Health First Aid training is considered an asset.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to conduct indoor and outdoor patrols in varying weather conditions.
- Physically capable of responding to emergencies and performing assigned duties.
- Ability to maintain situational awareness and make sound decisions under pressure.
