Job Description:
City University's Canada campus headquartered in Vancouver, B.C. is seeking Part-Time Teaching Faculty to teach on the MEd in School Counselling Program. Employing a practitioner-scholar model, the MEd School Counselling program trains teachers for career options in educational counselling. Students are introduced to a broad range of counselling theoretical concepts, developmental, ethical considerations and the application of skills that are required in the school setting through a breadth of course work, delivered by practitioner faculty. Supported internships allow students to focus on skills that benefit their professional responsibilities as well as challenge their growth in counselling skills. A made-in-Canada curriculum and the use of local Teaching Faculty allow the program to respond to district, regional, and provincial contexts. Graduates of the MEd School Counselling program will be able to apply for school counselling positions as well as other educational career advancements.

Course Summary:
EGC 533 Child and Adolescent and Development

This course is designed for candidates in school counselling as an in-depth exploration of individual differences in child growth and development. How children learn differently in various ways and its relationship to developmental issues will be explored through research readings, self-reflection, papers and collaborative discussions. The course identifies various theories of child and adolescent growth and development and aids in understanding their application in the classroom.

Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctoral degree in education from an accredited college or university is required; PhD is preferable.
Minimum five years experience in related professional positions.
Minimum five years experience in K-12 classroom teaching.
Skill in addressing student academic-related issues and concerns in support of retention and student success.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities.
Commitment to providing an academic environment that incorporates intercultural competence in teaching and learning.
Ability to present a professional image on behalf of the academic school and City University as appropriate in relation to the community.
Culturally competent to serve a diverse student and faculty body.

The Part-time Teaching Faculty salary is based on the level of course (graduate, undergraduate, doctoral) and the number of course credits (1-5).
