10tation Event Catering is the sister company of Freebird Market. While both companies operate under the same roof, 10tation Event Catering is a separate entity specializing in corporate catering, private events, galas, weddings, and large-scale food service throughout the GTA.
We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly motivated Production Lead to join our growing culinary team.
This is a leadership role within our high-volume production kitchen. The successful candidate will work alongside our Executive Chefs to lead daily production, support the production team, and ensure food is prepared efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, organization, and food safety.
This is a high-pressure, physically demanding, and fast-paced position. Production volumes can be significant, deadlines are strict, and the ability to remain calm, organized, and lead by example under pressure is essential. We are looking for someone who thrives in a challenging environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional results every day.
This is a full-time position requiring open availability, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily production activities and assist with assigning tasks to the production team
- Support the Executive Chefs in coordinating workflow to ensure production schedules are met
- Prepare and cook large-batch menu items according to recipes and production schedules
- Produce proteins, sauces, soups, sides, salads, sandwiches, and other catering menu items
- Ensure recipes, portioning, presentation, and quality standards are consistently maintained
- Monitor product quality and food safety throughout each shift
- Train, coach, and support new and existing production staff
- Assist with production planning, inventory rotation, and kitchen organization
- Ensure products are packaged, labelled, and stored according to company standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory control as required
- Identify production issues and proactively communicate solutions to the leadership team
- Participate in daily and weekly cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Lead by example through professionalism, urgency, teamwork, and accountability
- Support other kitchen departments as operational needs require
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-volume production kitchen, catering company, commissary kitchen, hotel, or similar environment
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of batch cooking and large-scale food production
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a demanding environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency
- Comfortable making decisions and supporting team members during busy production periods
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset
- Reliable, punctual, professional, and team-oriented
Availability Requirements
- Full-time availability required
- Open availability is mandatory
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends
- Flexibility to work varying schedules based on operational requirements
