IP Network Specialist

The position is accountable for engineering and designing of new and existing networks, perform end-to-end design and development of network infrastructure, documentations and hand-off to support groups, in addition to quality control assurance.
o Build and implement customer network solutions, ensuring all project and change requests from the customer are within the scope of their contract;
o Develop network (IP Layer) design for new product or technology introduction.
o Handle special customer connectivity design and implementation
o Responsible for implementation and support of new and existing customer networks including: Configuration Management (Remedy, OV, and Concord).
o Co-ordinate the project / work plan for existing customer network design changes. Report on account and project status on regular basis;
o Define and complete documentation to standard - for example: maintenance operation procedure (MOP), network diagrams and certification criteria templates / checklists;
o Manage customers' equipment and design Allstream's managed network
o Recommend new processes within departments and any new enabling support technology;
o Interface with other departments to ensure procedures are being followed and/or reviewed;
o Act as an escalation point for operations support group on major failures and technical issues;
o Provide support and technical guidance to the more junior members of the team;
o Handle IBIS/CLIC tasks which affect new/existing managed customers
o After hours On-call support & Extended Business Hours.
Functional/Technical Knowledge and Skills:
o Able to demonstrate a high level of service delivery and understanding of business practices;
o Expertise in development, delivery and operation of complex network/systems solutions;
o Deep technical expertise, preferably spanning a variety of technologies, environments and vendors;
o An in-depth knowledge of IP, MPLS and Multicast protocols and technologies such as BGP, OSPF, ISIS, LDP, IPSec, L2TP, VPN, EIGRP, GRE, QoS
o Strong technical leadership skills with a solid knowledge and experience in Cisco switches and routers
o Excellent communications and presentation skills, with ability to span both highly technical and non-technical audiences;
o Ability to effectively deliver multiple concurrent projects, meeting tight deadlines;
o Excellent prioritization skills;
o Ability to effectively work as part of a cross-functional and/or cross-technology team;
o Strong technical documentation and communication skills;
o Demonstrated leadership skills with highly technical individuals.
o College Degree or equivalent experience
o CCNP, CCDP
o 7-10 years experience in delivering complex network/systems solutions to large companies (preferably both enterprise and service provider)
o Extensive experience working with multiple equipment and software products such as Cisco, Nortel, Sun, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Remedy, Concord reporting tools and HP Open View.
o Significant experience in operational/support environment, especially managed/outsourced services.
o Experience in configuring and installing technologies such as switched Ethernet/Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet and various routing (static, ripv1/v2, EIGRP, and BGP)
o Experienced in network design, operational support, hands-on implementation and configuration of network infrastructure
