Senior IT Security Analyst (Palo Alto)
The Senior IT Security Analyst is responsible for supporting and executing the organization’s information security operations, ensuring the protection of corporate systems and data. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with operational leadership – requiring strong experience in firewall management, vulnerability management, and security operations.
The Senior IT Security Analyst works closely with IT Security leadership to implement security strategies, improve security posture, and maintain effective protection against evolving cyber threats. This role also supports the development of security processes, conducts assessments, and mentors team members on security practices.
- Monitor security systems and perform security assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
- Own and manage Palo Alto firewall environments, including rule design, optimization, segmentation, and ongoing maintenance.
- Lead vulnerability management activities, including scanning, prioritization, remediation tracking, and reporting on key risks and trends.
- Investigate security incidents, including breaches, phishing attempts, and suspicious activity, and assist in response and containment efforts.
- Conduct security audits and testing to ensure compliance with internal policies and external standards.
- Install, configure, and operate security tools and technologies to protect systems and infrastructure.
- Document security incidents, findings, and remediation efforts to support operational tracking and audit readiness.
- Work with IT and business teams to identify and remediate vulnerabilities while ensuring system stability and functionality.
- Develop and promote security best practices and contribute to improving security processes and procedures.
- Stay current on cybersecurity threats, trends, and emerging technologies.
- Perform technical security assessments and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Support firewall and security-related change management activities, including validation and documentation.
- Assist in mentoring and guiding junior team members on security tools, processes, and analysis techniques.
- 5+ years of experience in IT security within a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewall platforms and network security technologies.
- Experience owning or supporting vulnerability management programs, including prioritization and remediation coordination.
- Proficiency with security tools including SIEM, endpoint protection, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability management platforms.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, and COBIT.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address security risks.
- Ability to clearly document findings and communicate recommendations.
- Experience working across teams to support security initiatives and remediation efforts.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Certifications
- CISSP, CISM, CRISC, GIAC certifications, or equivalent
- Palo Alto Networks certifications (e.g., PCNSE)
- Microsoft Security certifications (e.g., SC-200)
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field preferred.
