The House of Commons Corporate Communications team is currently looking to staff the position of Senior Communications Advisor on a long-term contract to support corporate projects.
Reporting directly to the Office of the Clerk, the Corporate Communications team is a strategic partner, providing Member-centric communications advice, strategies and products that promote the institution of the House of Commons and protect its reputation.
The Senior Communications Advisor will be responsible for providing communications advice and services within tight time frames. Building partnerships with subject-matter experts in various service areas will be a key component of the role, as well writing web content, communications strategies and related deliverables.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of communications theories, principles, practices and delivery methods, normally acquired through a post-secondary degree in communications, journalism or a related field, combined with extensive experience in communications at the advisor level involving large projects and working with senior management.

A university degree in communications or journalism, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the duties of the position.
Experience drafting and controlling the quality control of communications products;
Experience managing complex projects and strategic initiatives involving various stakeholders;
Significant experience developing communications strategies and products;
Significant experience providing expert communications advice to clients, including senior management;
Significant experience working in a fast-paced environment with changing and conflicting priorities.
Experience writing content for the Web;
Experience with change management;
Selected candidates will be evaluated against the Corporate Communications Competency Profile - Supervisor.
The purpose of this recruitment and selection process is to staff the position of Senior Communications Advisor for a long-term determinate position and to create a pool of qualified candidates that may be considered to staff future vacancies for this position or for other similar and/or related positions on an indeterminate and/or determinate basis. Candidates may also be considered for the Communications Advisor recruitment process 2021-2020-049. Consideration may be given to candidates with other linguistic profiles.
