Job Title: Associate Engineering Project Manager

As we continue to expand our product portfolio and engineering capabilities, we are seeking an Associate Engineering Project Manager to join our Engineering team.
Position Overview: The Associate Engineering Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and driving the execution of engineering projects from concept through product release. This role serves as the operational hub between Electrical, Mechanical, Embedded Software, Firmware, Test, Manufacturing, Quality and Product Management teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within scope and to the required quality standards.
The successful candidate will manage project schedules, coordinate engineering activities, facilitate technical discussions, monitor project risks and dependencies, and provide timely status updates to engineering leadership. While this role receives mentorship from senior project managers and engineering leaders, it is expected to independently manage smaller to medium-sized engineering projects and major workstreams within larger programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop and maintain integrated engineering project schedules.
- Coordinate project activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Manage multiple concurrent engineering projects with varying priorities.
- Define project scope, milestones, deliverables and success criteria.
- Track engineering progress and proactively address schedule deviations.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed according to committed timelines.
- Coordinate product development activities from concept through production release.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the primary coordination point between Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory and Product Management.
- Organize and facilitate project meetings, design reviews and technical discussions.
- Ensure action items are assigned, tracked and completed.
- Drive accountability for project commitments across all functional groups.
- Support effective communication between internal stakeholders and external partners where required.
Project Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor project health using key performance indicators, milestones and project dashboards.
- Prepare regular project status reports for engineering leadership.
- Identify schedule variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop project forecasts and resource utilization reports.
- Support engineering capacity planning and workload balancing.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify project risks, technical challenges and resource constraints.
- Maintain project risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Escalate critical issues in a timely manner with recommended solutions.
- Coordinate resolution of cross-functional issues affecting project delivery.
- Support lessons learned and continuous improvement activities following project completion.
Engineering Process Improvement
- Promote best practices in project planning, estimation and execution.
- Improve engineering project management processes, templates and reporting tools.
- Support implementation of project management methodologies and governance.
- Drive improvements in engineering metrics, forecasting accuracy and execution efficiency.
- Help establish standardized project management practices across engineering teams.
Product & Technical Knowledge
- Develop a strong understanding of Electrovaya's battery systems, products and technologies.
- Understand engineering development processes from concept through manufacturing.
- Participate in engineering design reviews and technical planning activities.
- Support compliance activities related to industry standards and product certifications.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Project Management education or certification is considered an asset.
Experience
- 5-8 years of experience in engineering project coordination or project management.
- Experience managing engineering projects involving electrical, mechanical and embedded software development.
- Experience working in product development environments from concept through production.
- Experience with cross-functional engineering teams in a manufacturing organization is preferred.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner
- Agile Project Management certification
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of engineering product development lifecycles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps or equivalent project management tools.
- Excellent planning, scheduling and forecasting skills.
- Experience with risk management methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with engineering documentation and configuration management.
- Working knowledge of regulatory standards such as UL, IEC, ISO and related certification processes is an asset.

This position is designed as the next step beyond Engineering Project Coordinator and provides a structured path toward Engineering Project Manager as responsibilities, project ownership and leadership experience continue to grow.
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
