Job Description
Water Babies Halton, Waterloo & Guelph is hiring a reliable and friendly Part-Time Lifeguard to support our baby and toddler swim lessons for our Oakville location.
The main purpose of this role is to help keep our swimmers, parents, teachers, and pool environment safe while lessons are taking place. You will be responsible for lifeguarding the pool area, following pool safety regulations, supporting Water Babies safety policies, and helping create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for families.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident, calm, responsible, and enjoys working around babies, toddlers, parents, and swim teachers.
Responsibilities
- Lifeguard the pool area during Water Babies lessons
- Follow all pool safety regulations and Water Babies safety policies
- Keep customers safe in and around the pool area
- Correct unsafe behaviour when needed
- Respond to emergency situations and provide rescue support or first aid based on your training
- Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses according to Water Babies procedures
- Arrive changed and ready to guard the pool 15 minutes before the first class begins
- Remain on site until the last customer has left the pool area/building
- Complete visual checks of the pool area and report any health and safety concerns
- Assist the swim teacher with class set-up and poolside preparation
- Help with customer questions and provide friendly customer service
- Assist with meet-and-greets, directing families, and sharing pool/changing area information
- Tidy the pool area and check for lost property at the end of the shift
- Work with the Water Babies team to maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment
Required Qualifications
- Current National Lifeguard certification
- Current First Aid and CPR-C/AED
- Previous lifeguarding experience
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Comfortable working around babies, toddlers, parents, and families
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Calm and controlled in stressful or emergency situations
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of pool operations and water safety
- Experience working with children or families
- Flexible availability for occasional cover shifts
Schedule
Part-time
Sunday and Tuesdays shifts
Additional cover shifts may be available as needed
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
