Job Overview
Central Concrete and Flooring Accessories Inc. is seeking a sales-driven, customer-focused individual to join our Kelowna team in an Inside Sales/Shipper & Receiver role. This position is primarily a sales and customer relationship role, supported by hands-on involvement in warehouse shipping and receiving operations.
The successful candidate will spend approximately 60% of their time generating sales, building customer relationships, and managing the order-to-delivery process, and 40% of their time supporting shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. This role suits someone who is energized by sales conversations and customer problem-solving, while still being comfortable on the warehouse floor as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Inside Sale
- Serve as the primary point of contact for in-store and telephone customers, generating sales leads and building lasting customer relationships.
- Provide personalized guidance to customers, recommending appropriate concrete and flooring products, services, and solutions to meet their specific needs.
- Quote customers within the approved pricing structure, ensuring value-added products and premium services are offered on every order.
- Process sales orders, quotes, and invoices accurately and efficiently, entering information into the system while simultaneously confirming details with customers on the call.
- Facilitate the full sales and delivery process, including placing orders, scheduling deliveries, and coordinating logistics to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment.
- Handle customer complaints and inquiries promptly and professionally, investigating issues, resolving problems, and escalating as needed to ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions and customer inquiries, documenting information in the system and following up as necessary.
- Stay informed on company products, services, and promotions to provide accurate, up-to-date information and proactively identify upsell opportunities.
- Coordinate closely with the shipping and receiving function to ensure customer orders are prepared and shipped accurately and on time.
Shipping & Receiving
- Operate a forklift safely to move received product and prepare product for shipping.
- Verify product expiration codes and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.
- Lift and stock cases of product/merchandise according to documented procedures.
- Process required shipping/receiving paperwork and maintain accurate records for reporting and tracking.
- Track shipments and verify receipts as required, managing inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Sort and distribute incoming shipments to the appropriate areas.
- Maintain an organized warehouse, shipping/receiving area, and yard in accordance with policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by the organization.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in inside sales or customer service, preferably in construction, flooring, concrete, or building materials.
- Demonstrated sales acumen, including comfort with upselling, quoting, and closing orders in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
- Exposure to or willingness to work in a warehouse/shipping and receiving environment; prior experience is an asset but not required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present and articulate product features and benefits.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with customers and colleagues.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to multitask while on customer calls.
- Comfort operating material handling equipment such as a forklift; forklift certification is an asset.
- Ability to perform occasional heavy lifting; physically capable of lifting 55 lbs without assistance when supporting warehouse tasks.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, problem-solve creatively, and handle difficult situations with professionalism and tact.
- Self-motivated with high energy, a positive team attitude, and a strong commitment to customer service.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in sales, customer service, or a related field preferred.
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time, hourly position, Monday to Friday. Possible Saturday rotation schedule in future.
- Primarily customer-facing and desk/counter-based, with regular movement into the warehouse to support shipping and receiving.
- Role requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, and to perform physical warehouse tasks as needed.
