I. Description of Department
Menard Canada is a leading specialty geotechnical contractor focused on ground improvement across the country. For more than 50 years, Menard has proudly delivered innovative ground improvement services to municipalities, construction firms, industrial clients, and both private and public sectors nationwide.
Beyond its core expertise in ground improvement, Menard operates throughout the entire infrastructure life cycle, offering soil investigation and remediation services through its ConeTec and Remea brands. These two specialized brands are expanding by leveraging Menard’s established network to strengthen their presence in the ground improvement market.
The Operations, Project Delivery Department oversees tender submissions, project planning, execution, and closure in compliance with project requirements and applicable engineering codes.
II. Objective of the Position
The Project Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safe and successful delivery of Menard Canada projects in Ontario. This role involves collaborating closely with the Project Manager and Operations Manager, as well as supporting all levels of project staff during both the tender and construction phases. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Ontario legislation and a strong working knowledge of Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) requirements.
III. Major Functions
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with all Federal and Provincial regulations
- Understand all the requirements of the project in terms of budget (resources, working time, material and cost), schedule and coordination, work procedures and technical performance, Safety risk assessment and control, project design. Ensure that such requirements are always met.
- Preparation of the job site (i.e: budget tracking, schedule, estimate, preparing safety documents, quality control documents, communicating with suppliers for equipment and materials, preparing the job site trailer if there is one).
- QA/QC daily to assure compliance with project specifications, project is meeting/surpassing budget, and work performed on site is compliant with the design.
- Writing daily/weekly reports; aiding Project Manager in budget tracking.
- Surveying on site with GPS or Total Station.
- Liaisons between site supervisors, clients and suppliers as required.
- Prepare monthly invoices, equipment reports, timesheet submittals.
- Performing and promoting on site safety; be a role model.
- Aid in design work of Menard’s various techniques.
- Required training for continual professional and safety development
- Help in tender stage of projects by performing estimates.
- Continual communication with Lead Design Engineer, Operations Manager, Project Manager, and BU Manager.
- Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans, conferring with senior management.
- Aid in building quality control documents and procedures for on site success.
IV. Independence / Supervision
This position supports the Project Managers and/or Operations Manager by providing technical assistance during the tender and construction phases, as well as overseeing job site activities. The role reports to the Branch Manager, Project Manager, or Operations Manager, depending on the specific activity.
V. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Requirements
A. Knowledge
- Understanding of geotechnical principals
- General Knowledge of Ground Improvement techniques
- Knowledge of management principles involved in planning, resource distribution, leadership techniques, production system and coordination of people
- Understanding of mathematics and their applications
- Familiarity of relevant equipment, policies, procedures to ensure public safety
- Knowledge of surveying
- Computer competences in MS office, AutoCAD, MS Project and other software required

D. Other Requirements
- Civil Engineering degree or Technical Diploma
- Eligibility for registration with a relevant professional association is considered an asset, where applicable
- Ability to travel within Ontario
- Valid driver’s licence, Class G or equivalent
- Available to travel
- Preference will be given to those with experience in ground improvements, pile driving, earthworks, heavy civil, infrastructure, general contracting or oil & gas
Pay: $68,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
