We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a real estate-focused investment management organization in Etobicoke, Ontario. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who brings strong technical expertise, clear communication skills, and confidence working through core corporate accounting activities. The successful candidate will support accurate financial reporting, maintain the integrity of the general ledger, and contribute to month-end processes using Yardi and advanced Excel skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries to support daily and month-end accounting activity across corporate accounts.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and balance sheet items to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with month-end and period-end close activities, including reviewing financial results and resolving discrepancies.
- Produce and support financial statements and related working papers with a high level of accuracy.
- Manage account analysis and investigate variances by working through detailed records and supporting documentation.
- Use Yardi Voyager and Excel to maintain accounting data, generate reports, and streamline reconciliations.
- Support corporate accounting operations within a real estate environment, ensuring records align with internal controls and reporting needs.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to clarify transactions, address issues, and keep accounting deliverables on track.
- Previous experience in a Senior Accountant or strong intermediate accounting role supporting core corporate accounting functions.
- Hands-on expertise with journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations.
- Demonstrated ability to complete bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
- Practical experience with month-end close and preparation of financial reporting deliverables.
- Proficiency with Yardi, including Yardi Voyager, in an accounting environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to work confidently with spreadsheets and detailed financial data.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in real estate, property, or investment-related accounting is strongly preferred.
