Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Swine Technician to join our livestock team. We are a farrow-to-finish family hog operation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the care, health, and well-being of swine on our farm. This role involves working closely with farm animals and performing various tasks essential to maintaining a productive and healthy environment for the animals. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic agricultural setting, contributing directly to the success of our operation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily care and management of swine, including feeding, watering, and monitoring health status
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of animal housing areas
- Conduct health checks on animals and report any abnormalities to supervisors
- Assist with breeding, farrowing, and weaning processes as needed
- Vaccinating, moving, weighing, sorting hogs
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and production data
- Support general farm maintenance tasks including repairs and equipment troubleshooting both inside the barn and outside
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and animal welfare standards at all times
Skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds or more) regularly throughout shifts
- Experience working with farm equipment such as feed systems, tractors, or other machinery is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
- Good physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Effective communication skills for teamwork and reporting observations accurately
