The Libraries and Heritage Resources Section, Communications and Community Engagement Division, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Greater Sudbury, requires an Inter Library Loan Technician. The successful candidate must possess the qualifications and perform the duties, as set out below. The current range of pay for this position is $25.17 to $29.21 per hour.

Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Libraries and Heritage Resources and the day-to-day direction of the Co-ordinator of Public Services.

Complete interlibrary loan transactions for incoming and outgoing requests using appropriate software. Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan mail. Make recommendations on interlibrary loan lending practices (e.g. format, lending period).
Provide reader’s advisory and reference services in person, by telephone or electronically.
Instruct internal and external clients in the use of the library, including search methods, online resources, and technological devices.
Resolve complaints from the general public as required.
Assist in the development and maintenance of library collections.
Perform public tours, organizing displays and participating in community outreach events.
Schedule meeting room and equipment bookings.
Gather and compile statistics, and create statistical reports as required.
Perform bibliographic checking.
Guide staff in services for citizens with disabilities.
Develop and maintain relationships with citizens with disabilities to improve accessibility of library facilities and services.
Liaise between library staff and patrons and Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA).
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Successful completion of a Community College Library Technician’s Diploma.
Six (6) months up to and including twelve (12) months of related experience.
Knowledge of various computer applications including Windows based systems, (e.g. word processing and spreadsheet software, files maintenance, information input and retrieval and the Internet).
Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner.
Ability to demonstrate accurate keyboarding skills.
Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
Excellent French verbal skills and a good knowledge of written French is an asset.
Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
May require the use of a personal or CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
