Class 1 Propane Delivery Driver – Alberta
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Class 1 Driver to deliver propane safely and efficiently throughout a designated Alberta territory.
This is a customer-facing position for someone who takes pride in safe driving, reliable service and maintaining strong customer relationships. In addition to operating a propane delivery truck, you will refill and inspect customer storage tanks, respond to changing delivery priorities and work closely with dispatch and operations.
Key Responsibilities Propane Delivery and Route Management
- Safely deliver propane to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
- Plan and complete assigned routes efficiently using navigation and route-optimization tools.
- Refill propane storage vessels while following all required safety procedures.
- Inspect tanks and related equipment and report any safety or maintenance concerns.
- Adjust to route changes, urgent requests and same-day deliveries.
- Assist other drivers and provide route coverage when required.
Customer Service
- Provide professional and courteous service during every delivery.
- Develop positive relationships by understanding customers’ delivery patterns and service needs.
- Answer general questions and communicate customer concerns to the appropriate internal team.
- Represent the company professionally at customer locations.
- Share service information or marketing materials with potential customers when appropriate.
Vehicle and Equipment Care
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain a clean, organized and service-ready delivery truck.
- Perform basic equipment upkeep and report mechanical concerns promptly.
- Accurately document deliveries, customer interactions, tank conditions and service updates.
Operational Support
- Communicate regularly with dispatch, office and operations teams.
- Participate in yard projects and operational initiatives when required.
- Provide feedback from the field that could improve routing, dispatch or customer service.
- Support the team during peak delivery periods and changing weather conditions.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all federal and provincial requirements governing propane transportation and handling, including TDG and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Follow company policies for safe driving, loading, unloading and tank servicing.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Report vehicle defects, unsafe conditions, incidents and customer-site hazards immediately.
- Remain fit for duty and maintain all required licences and certifications.
- Help maintain a respectful, inclusive and harassment-free workplace.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence.
- Minimum three years of professional Class 1 driving experience.
- Clean or acceptable commercial driver’s abstract.
- Current H2S, First Aid, CSO, WHMIS and TDG certifications.
- Previous propane, fuel, bulk-liquid or dangerous-goods delivery experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Ability to organize a busy route and respond to changing priorities.
- Comfortable using navigation, electronic documentation and reporting systems.
- Dependable and available to manage a heavier workload during peak propane season.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to drive and remain seated for extended periods.
- Ability to climb into and out of a delivery truck frequently.
- Ability to lift, pull and handle propane hoses and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing Alberta weather conditions.
- Ability to wear and use required PPE and propane-handling safety equipment.
