Major Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Children's Services Consultant in Service System Planning and Policy, the Research Analyst 1 is responsible for researching and analyzing information and data for policy development and planning to support program development and service integration for improved health and wellbeing of children and families:

Conducts research involving collection of information from various sources such as other levels of government, other divisions and community agencies; conducts literature searches and utilizes other research findings to inform practice; and develops and administers surveys, questionnaires and other tools on an as-needed-basis
Works closely with TCS Consultants to develop tools, processes, reports and datasets that support the planning of Toronto's EarlyON child and family system
Uses mapping and visualization software to support planning decisions
Helps organize stakeholder meetings, including booking venues and preparing draft materials, where appropriate
Collects, analyzes, evaluates and interprets information/findings to develop recommendations for improvement to existing tools, policies and services and in the development of theories, concepts and objectives for service integration
Provides policy analysis and research support on a broad range of related issues
Writes reports for Council based on research. Documents findings, supporting data, recommendations and theories. Prepares and co-ordinates briefs and summary reports on subjects such as legislative changes, research information and implications of findings
In partnership with the EarlyON team, local communities, agencies, and other City divisions identifies community needs and assists TCS in developing appropriate, innovative, strategies to meet those needs which promote improved health and wellbeing of children and families
Attends meetings with staff, networks with other divisions, different levels of government and community agencies

Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in the area of social sciences (social work, social policy, sociology/social psychology) or other related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in conducting research, analysis, interpreting large volumes of data, summarizing findings and creating graphic presentations, including writing and presenting findings to internal and external audiences.
Experience with Excel, using data analysis/statistical software, and electronic database management.
Experience building data visualizations using Tableau, or similar software.

You must also have:
Knowledge and skills in survey design and qualitative research methodology and practices, including familiarity with appropriate software analysis packages.
Strong organizational and human relations skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and with external stakeholders.
Ability to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds and to engage with target groups.
Good leadership skills with the ability to empathize and motivate individuals and groups.
Patience and tact and the ability to earn the trust of others.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment, including engaging all stakeholders in problem-solving and issue resolution.
Excellent written communication skills with an ability to prepare reports and statistics.
Well-developed verbal communication and presentation skills both in group settings and on a one-to-one basis.
Ability to undertake research with individuals and groups, using appropriate approaches and methodologies.
Experience with GIS software is an asset.
