Chocolate Tales is seeking an energetic, reliable and personable Culinary Instructor & Event Facilitator to lead hands-on culinary classes and special events at our Hamilton studio.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking, teaching and creating memorable guest experiences. You will lead a variety of cooking, baking and chocolate-making programs, including public workshops, private celebrations and corporate team-building events.
Our recipes, class formats and training will be provided. While strong culinary skills are important, we are equally interested in finding someone who is confident speaking in front of groups, organized and genuinely enjoys working with people.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging, hands-on culinary classes and events
- Clearly demonstrate recipes and cooking techniques
- Guide participants through each stage of the program
- Create a welcoming, energetic and professional atmosphere
- Prepare ingredients, equipment and workstations before each event
- Follow established recipes, lesson plans and event timelines
- Monitor food preparation and ensure consistent results
- Follow food-safety, sanitation and allergen-control procedures
- Supervise participants and maintain a safe kitchen environment
- Assist with serving, packaging and presenting finished products
- Clean and reset the studio following each class or event
- Communicate professionally with guests, coworkers and management
- Help resolve guest concerns calmly and positively
- Support other studio and event-related duties when required
Qualifications
- Previous culinary, baking, pastry or chocolate-making experience
- Comfortable teaching and speaking in front of groups
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Friendly, confident and engaging personality
- Reliable, punctual and well organized
- Able to follow established recipes and instructions
- Comfortable managing several tasks in a busy environment
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Food Handler Certification, or willingness to obtain it
- Experience teaching, facilitating events or working in hospitality is an asset
- Culinary education or professional kitchen experience is an asset but not necessarily required
Schedule and Physical Requirements
- Must be available for a flexible schedule
- Evening and weekend availability is required
- Hours will vary depending on class and event bookings
- Must be comfortable standing for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and carry ingredients, equipment and supplies
- Some programs may involve working with adults, families, children or corporate groups
