DEI Consulting Engineer's goal is to hire a Mechanical Project Manager (Contract Administration) looking to develop and continue their career in the building service industry. DEI Consulting Engineers is looking to grow their mechanical project management team by adding a competent, driven, and self-motivated individual that will represent DEI Consulting Engineers as the main point of contact for our Mechanical Team for projects in construction.

Qualifications
This role requires a candidate with excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with contractors, owners, architects, and other individuals during the construction period through in person and electronic communication. The role requires someone who acts in a professional manner, is organized, and can enforce contractual requirements when necessary.
The successful candidate needs at minimum 7 to 10 years of construction experience ideally as an Ontario College of Trades licensed Plumber or Sheet Metal trade working on relevant construction projects. The individual should have a strong understanding of construction methodology, coordination between trades, and construction details. Candidates need to have an in-depth understanding of relevant mechanical codes, construction practices, and the ability to effectively analyze costs (manpower and materials) for changes that occur during construction.
Technically, the successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of mechanical HVAC systems, equipment, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, materials, methodologies for installing these systems, and understanding of workmanship and best practices.
The role will require the successful candidate to be capable of effectively utilizing a variety of software and hardware in their daily tasks, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, etc.), Bluebeam (PDF Editors), 360-degree cameras, regular cameras, etc.
Role Overview
As a Mechanical Project Manager (Contract Administration) your role would involve managing the day-to-day progress and requirements for a variety of assigned projects through pre-construction to post-construction. This role would require the individual to work in conjunction with the mechanical design team to develop practical and cost-effective solutions to construction issues, manage client expectations during construction, and work collaboratively with trades to ensure each project is constructed to a high standard.
The roles main responsibilities include on-site review of construction with relevant trades and completing follow-up site review report in a timely manner, and attendance at construction meetings. Off-site responsibilities include shop drawing review, review of progress draws and change order costing, responding to RFI’s, coordinating, and preparing changes, SI’s, etc. in conjunction with the respective design team for the project. Additionally, this individual would complete project close out requirements including review of operation maintenance manual and as-built drawings, and review of life safety testing certifications for issuance of engineer’s conformance letter. In addition, the role would require the individual to manage projects where DEI Consulting Engineers is the prime consultant. Experience with these requirements is considered an asset.
In addition to the management of construction projects, this role would require individuals to assist the design team in surveying and gather relevant information for projects that are beginning the design phase. These responsibilities would include visiting sites as required to thoroughly survey existing conditions as needed to suit the scope of the project.
This role will require the individual to travel daily to assigned sites for work and will require flexibility in the individuals’ Monday to Friday work schedule (potentially before or after standard work hours). Travel requirements typically are in Southern Ontario, however, travel throughout Canada will be required depending on assigned projects.
