Overview
Our shop is looking for an experienced Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain our diverse commercial fleet. We prioritize safety and regulatory compliance, requiring a technician who can perform high-level diagnostics, precision repairs, and detailed documentation. If you hold a valid CVIP license and have a background in commercial transport, we want to hear from you.
Core Responsibilities
- Fleet Maintenance: Perform scheduled inspections and repairs on our fleet, ranging from vans to full-sized motorcoaches.
- Regulatory Compliance: Execute mandatory CVIP inspections and 30-day preventative maintenance checks in accordance with Alberta transport regulations.
- Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and HVAC issues using electronic diagnostic tools.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct road tests and performance evaluations to verify repair integrity.
- Documentation: Maintain precise, detailed records on all work orders, maintenance logs, and safety inspection sheets.
- Shop Safety: Uphold a clean and hazard-free workspace; proactively report issues with shop tools or facility equipment.
Schedule
- Flexibility: We offer both full-time schedules and flexible part-time opportunities, including availability for evening shifts (after 3:00 PM) and weekends to support our operational needs.
Candidate Requirements
- Certification: Valid Alberta Journeyman or Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician status.
- Credential: Current CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) signing authority.
- Experience: 2+ years of professional experience with heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Direct experience with transit buses or motorcoaches is strongly preferred.
- Licensing: Driver’s License (Class 1, 2, or 3) with Air Brake (Q) endorsement is strongly preferred. Candidate must have a clean driving abstract (no pending suspensions; under 6 demerits).
- Technical Aptitude: Strong ability to interpret technical blueprints, electrical schematics, and manufacturer bulletins.
- Requirements: Must have your own set of professional hand tools.
- Physicality: Ability to perform manual tasks including lifting up to 20 kg (45 lbs) on a daily basis.
