The Golden Opportunity
To better serve the production industry’s growing ambitions, our National Inventory team is looking for a talented and experienced individual to join us in the newly created role of National Manager, Power & Vehicle. This is a full-time, permanent position located in either Toronto or Vancouver.
Reporting to the Vice President, Rental Inventory the National Manager, Power & Vehicle manages and oversees the entire WFW national power and vehicle inventory. This includes over 400 hundred pieces of fleet (both motorized and trailers) and over 200 diesel generators as well as numerous specialty pieces and portable gasoline generators across 8 locations in Canada.

Implement national standards for vehicle and power maintenance ensuring high utilization and safe operation.
Create a process that provides a platform to store and share information across all offices.
Ensure fleet inventory is accurate for each location and that RTPro is kept up to date. Maintain the Vehicle Master Fleet List to ensure all asset identification and current office location are tracked accurately.
Inform the VP East and West and VP, Inventory of any possible equipment shortages or significant issues with the fleet.
Parts: Monitor parts inventory to ensure adequate levels. Work with WFW and SBR purchasing to ensure economy of scale pricing is achieved.
Organize and implement national standards for pre- and post-rental vehicle inspections.
Ensure processes are in place to accurately bill for any recorded damages.
Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to and tracked.
Ensure successful completion and tracking of all safety and warranty recalls.
Oversee implementation and ongoing management of GPS systems.
Work with purchasing and inventory to ensure all purchased vehicles & power units meet the most rigorous governing standards.
Work closely with the human resources team on the creation and maintenance of the driver files. Also ensures all abstracts are kept up to date.
Purchase and disposal of assets.
Proactively address aging fleet concerns while also ensuring inventory is at required levels for forecasted growth.
Work closely with the Sunbelt Rentals team to achieve economies of scale when purchasing new vehicles.
In coordination with Marketing, ensure all branding is inline with corporate design standards.
In coordination with VP East and West, ensure proper layout of vehicle maintenance departments to improve efficiency and health & safety.
Monitor company insurance policy and ensure all vehicle insurance is up to date.
Coordinate annual renewal of license plates, Commercial Vehicle Operators Certificates and National Safety Code Number in the provinces in which we operate.
Review corporate terms and conditions to ensure any vehicle and power related topics are addressed.
Management of national rental accounts with 3rd party providers such as Penske and Ryder.
Provide technical support for all branch offices.
Responsible for analyzing fleet costs, identifying trends and cost improvement opportunities.
Work with regional offices with auditing to ensure timely processing of payment for all monthly vendor invoices related to the fleet. (i.e., 407 charges, traffic violation tickets, etc).
Work with VP, Inventory and VP East and West on capital plans for Fleet.
Prepare and maintain multi-year strategic plan for power and vehicle needs.
Health & Safety
Monitor vehicle safety records.
Ensure all provincial and federal transportation rules and regulations are being followed, including Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
Work closely with the Sunbelt Rentals, Education & Training and Safety teams to coordinate driver training as necessary.
Review all accident reports and, in coordination with Senior Safety Specialists, make any necessary recommendations to improve safety.
Work with Senior Safety Specialists to ensure all hazardous material training is updated
Innovation and Environment, Social & Governance
Working with the Sunbelt Rentals Team, investigate all opportunities to utilize technology to reduce environmental impact and improve customer experience, including hydrogen and battery fuel cell systems, with the goal being to create a clean energy transition roadmap.
In coordination with VP, Sustainability & Stakeholder Affairs, engage in dialogue with appropriate government and industry stakeholders to stay informed on emission requirements and financial incentives available to both WFW and production as it relates to alternative power technology.
The Ideal Candidate
Must have advanced vehicle, diesel generator & battery knowledge.
Must have full cycle experience in the management of a large inventory of vehicle and power equipment.
Must have five years of previous experience in a leadership role in transportation or power supply.
Previous working experience in and knowledge of the film industry would be considered an asset.
Must be forward thinking and adaptable.
Technical knowledge in alternative energy, hybrid power systems, etc. is required.
Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
