Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving bakery and packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production operations. This role supports production by minimizing downtime, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring all equipment and facility systems meet food safety, quality, and workplace safety requirements.
Shifts Available: Morning: 5:00am – 2:00pm/ afternoon shift: 2:00pm – 11:00pm
Hours: 44 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $36-$42 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and test equipment, machinery, and components in accordance with established SOPs, GMPs, food safety requirements, and health and safety regulations.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs according to established schedules.
- Identify equipment requiring repair, replacement, or new parts and communicate maintenance requirements to management.
- Proactively monitor equipment performance to minimize downtime, reduce waste, and support production efficiency.
- Maintain the Chemical Control Log for food-grade and non-food-grade chemicals.
- Inspect equipment, facility systems, and work areas to ensure proper operation and to identify conditions that may compromise food safety or employee safety.
- Ensure facility services and utilities meet regulatory and company requirements for food safety and operational effectiveness.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee activities as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures and wearing required PPE.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, food safety programs, quality standards, and company policies.
- Complete all required training related to food safety, allergens, gluten awareness, quality systems, and workplace safety.
- Demonstrate a shared commitment to the development and continuous improvement of a positive food safety and quality culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, food production, packaging, or related environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and maintenance best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and maintenance procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Basic computer skills and experience maintaining maintenance records.
- Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP principles, and food manufacturing environments is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to safely use maintenance tools and equipment.
