Make an impact on one of North America's largest public transit systems. As an Industrial Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise to support the design, maintenance, and continuous improvement of TTC facilities, infrastructure, and systems. Your work will directly contribute to operational excellence, asset reliability, and a safe transit experience for our customers.
- Plan, schedule and produce detailed design, contract specifications and engineering drawings for department specific system projects.
- Coordinate, direct and guide relevant TTC staff and/or consultants, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers in section specific design work, equipment or systems; resolve design issues to ensure compliance with TTC design standards and specifications.
- Perform a variety of complex engineering calculations to produce complete engineering designs and specifications for section and department specific system projects.
- Investigate, evaluate, and test TTC new, existing or proposed systems, components and/or construction methods; troubleshoot operating problems, malfunctions/faults; recommend alternate design, procedures, equipment, materials and related matters.
- Compile cost and quantity estimates for specific projects, programs and budget purposes; assist with the preparation of budgets/cash flows and monitor where necessary to meet project and departmental goals and objectives.
- Initiate relevant procurement process, review technical proposals and quotations from consultants for compliance with Branch requirements, evaluate tenders, recommend for award and monitor progress.
- Perform feasibility studies, surveys and assess the condition of existing systems and equipment, determining the extent of repair, safety of equipment and systems; perform random audits at sites to determine quality assurance and conformance to design.
- Provide technical support and engineering guidance to relevant staff on a 24-hour basis as required.
- Provide design review expertise of submissions received from the Engineering, Construction and Expansion Group at various stages of design and provide comments concerning compliance with Subway Operations Branch requirements.
- Report safety, hazard, security, cost, reliability, warranty, quality and other engineering issues in a timely manner.

- Must be licensed with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
- Completion of a post-secondary university degree in a related discipline (industrial engineering) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Requires comprehensive knowledge of industrial engineering principles, methods and practices
- Ability to direct and coordinate the activities of others in order to accomplish objectives
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to effectively implement solutions
- Comprehensive knowledge of legislation for pertinent labour, safety, health and environmental issues
- Strong work systems design skills combined with organizational and strategic planning ability
- Effective interpersonal, verbal communication and technical report writing skills
- Requires strong computer skills for programs used to gather, analyze and report data
