Overview
A kitchen porter should have excellent communication and listening skills. An appropriate level of on-the-job training and similar restaurant experience is preferred. Candidates must be able to perform dish washing duties and some minor prep jobs. Positivity, punctuality and reliability are great attributes for this position. This could be a great position for someone who wants to begin or grow their career in the restaurant industry.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish area.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, and chopping.
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment.
- The position requires standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, handling, reaching, grasping, lifting 50 lbs., and repetitive motions.
- Schedule flexibility is required.
Skills
- Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of food handling and safety practices is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- A team-oriented attitude with excellent communication skills to collaborate with kitchen staff.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced cooks and chefs.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00-$17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
