Salary Range: $30.43 - $35.60 per hour
Status: Permanent part-time
Hours of Work: 15 hours per week (Exceptional flexibility in work schedule)

The Pines has been serving seniors with care and dignity in our community since 1961. Our cozy and comfortable home encompasses five resident home areas (one secure) and has four wonderful courtyards with plenty of outdoor spaces to roam about.
The Opportunity
The Food Service Supervisor reports directly to the Dietary Manager and is responsible for the overall supervision of food services for the home, in accordance with legislative, regulatory, organizational, and resident requirements.
What you will do
- Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising work and schedules to provide high-quality food service programs relating to the nutritional and cultural needs of all residents including comprehensive menu planning.
- Assist in the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, in compliance with legislative and corporate requirements, and including support of professional growth of staff.
- Assist in leading employees in a manner consistent with District values, policies, and procedures, including hiring, orientation, work scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
- Participates in the assessment of residents to determine program needs; maintains awareness of changes in the needs of residents to adjust program goals appropriately; attends resident care conferences as required.
- Collaborate with residents, staff, families, and the community to encourage participation in Food Services programs.
- Maintains a positive image of the facility through ongoing communication with external contacts including families and volunteers.
- Adheres to standards with respect to quality assurance, infection prevention and control, emergency procedures, and occupational health and safety. Ensures compliance by employees and volunteers.
- Responds to emergencies as required.
- Provide back up support to manager for ordering and receiving food, supplies, and equipment.
- Provide vacation and emergency coverage to other District homes as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you will need
- Graduate of an accredited Food Service Supervisory program or equivalent;
- Member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM);
- Two years of recent work experience in a supervisory position in a long-term care setting is preferred;
- Demonstrated highly developed skills in team building, problem-solving skills, customer service, written and oral communications, and technological proficiency;
- Flexible and able to meet deadlines.
