The Manager is a key member of the management team in Sociology, working closely with the Department Chair, Undergraduate and Graduate Chairs, and Centre Directors to lead the current and future direction of the Department. The Manager ensures the efficient and effective functioning of administrative, strategic, operational, and financial processes and procedures to achieve the department’s educational and research goals. The Manager is responsible for the development of the Department’s Strategic Plan and Operating Budget and leads their implementation to ensure successful alignment with the Faculty’s and Western’s strategic goals. The Manager provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to assist staff within the Department to achieve their expected outcomes. The Manager coordinates many of the Chair’s administrative responsibilities and ensures compliance with appropriate collective agreements and Western policies and procedures. The Manager also oversees all departmental finances relating to administration, research, both domestic and international, and endowments.
