A. Job Overview:
The Material Handler is responsible for accurately picking, packing, shipping, and receiving materials, supplies, and equipment. This role ensures the efficient movement and tracking of goods within the warehouse, supporting both internal operations and customer requirements.
B. Key Responsibilities:
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and work instructions to carry out assigned duties.
- Prepare and stage outgoing shipments based on daily shipping plans.
- Accurately label, scan, and verify the condition of shipments before loading.
- Load trucks safely and efficiently, ensuring timely dispatch with all necessary documentation.
- Send Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs) to designated customers when required.
- Participate in routine and spot-check inventory audits.
- Provide support for receiving and perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors or management.
- Notify management immediately when shipments arrive without proper documentation.
- Keep workspaces tidy and safe, and maximize space by storing materials efficiently.
- Abide by the company’s employee handbook and all relevant workplace policies.
- Foster a respectful, trustworthy, and inclusive work environment.
- Fulfill assigned HACCP duties to support environmental and food safety management.
- Adhere to all safety rules related to lift truck operation, including pre-shift inspections and safe material handling.
- Report any damage to company facilities or customer property to management immediately.
C. Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Understand and comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related regulations.
- Carry out all job duties with a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices.
- Always wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the job.
D. Job Requirements:
- Valid forklift license (Center Rider Walkie,Crown Reach, Crown Dock Stocker experience) required.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Grade 12).
- 2-3 years of relevant warehouse experience preferred.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Comfortable using MRP systems for scanning, ASN entry, and shipping/receiving.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Customer-focused with a commitment to meeting business goals.
- Contributes to a positive work culture through knowledge sharing and teamwork.
- Physically able to lift up to 60 lbs safely on a regular basis.
- Capable of working in varying temperature environments.
- Temperatures may range anywhere from 2 C to 15 Celcius in most Company warehouses whereas, Company Cold Storage buildings may range from 0C to -30C.
- Reference Check and Background Check is must for this position.
- Must be eligible to work on SIN.
