EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS
The Whitecap Dakota Nation (WDN ) is currently seeking Casual Early Childhood Educators.
Reporting to the Manager of the Whitecap Early Learning Centre (WELC), Early Childhood
Educators (ECE) provide a caring and supportive childcare program to members of the Whitecap community that addresses their unique childcare needs, while also meeting all regulatory standards required by federal, provincial, and municipal governments.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Manager of the WELC, this role will be responsible for the delivery of safe and positive daily care to children and infants of various ages. Successful candidates will be well-versed in a variety of plan and implement play-based programming for children, and will be expected to support the positive physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual growth of the children in care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. In accordance with standards of the WDN and reporting to the Manager of the Whitecap Early Learning Centre, the Employee will:
- create, document, and implement developmentally appropriate program plans and inclusive learning environments;
- with the assistance of the ELC Manager, evaluate and revise children’s programming and program plans as required;
- observe, assess, and document children’s development and learning;
- encourage and enhance children’s development in language, literacy, social and communication skills;
- form appropriate and supportive working relationships with parents and families
- create collegial, professional relationships with co-workers;
- maintain confidentiality to protect the personal information of children and their families;
- understand and follow regulations, policies and procedures laid out by the WDN;
- understand and model positive health and hygiene practices for self and others;
- follow, uphold, and maintain all safe work policies and procedures;
- understand and follow documentation procedures for all reporting requirements;
- attend and successfully complete all required OH&S training as requested / required; and,
- other duties as assigned by the Manager of the WELC.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities
- Strong understanding of Early Childhood needs and best practices
- Passion for working with Children
- Early Childhood Educator Level I certification a strong asset
- Successful completion of post-secondary education in Early Childhood Studies or related field is an asset
- Awareness of Dakota values, language, and culture with a desire to expand knowledge
- Demonstrated capacity and commitment to engage and communicate with families, children, and other internal or external partners
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize and multitask
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability.
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
- Standard First Aid/CPR Certificates are considered a strong asset.
The successful candidate will be subject to an acceptable Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.
